Meet Chris

Chris is a commercial litigation lawyer with over 20 years' experience in dispute resolution with clients placed across a broad range of industries.

He has worked with commercial and government clients in the electricity and gas, automotive and IT industries as well as clients involved in manufacturing and distribution of consumer retail goods including garments, sporting goods and food.

Chris has extensive expertise in commercial dispute resolution including contractual disputes, building and construction disputes, regulatory disputes in the energy and resources sector, negligence claims, misleading and deceptive conduct issues, directors and professional liability claims, insurance coverage disputes, property and leasing, shareholder disputes, product liability, and insolvency recoveries. Chris has represented government clients in substantial litigation and mediations.

He is also experienced in alternative dispute resolution methods and accepts appointments as a mediator of commercial disputes. Chris is listed as a leading lawyer in Litigation in Best Lawyers Australia 2019.

General

State of Victoria

Acting in litigation commenced by Tabcorp and Tatts seeking recovery of approximately $1.3 billion associated with the non-renewal of gaming licences in 2012.

ASIC

Acting in bringing to a successful conclusion, compensation claims instituted by it pursuant to section 50 of the ASIC Act against the auditors and former directors of the failed Westpoint Group of Companies. This litigation was one of the largest and most complex claims ever made in Australia.

Gas and electricity distribution companies

On price reviews and access arrangement submissions and disputes.

Motor vehicle manufacturer/importer

Acting in matters concerning dealer relations, contracts and disputes, lease terms and renewals, trade mark and IP advice and related brand protection issues.

Energy Industry client

Acting in significant dispute concerning construction of gas fired electricity generation plant and associated pipeline.
