JWS welcomes leading Perth Corporate team

April 2017

Johnson Winter & Slattery continues to expand nationally with the appointment of leading corporate lawyers Paul Vinci and Justin Harris as partners in the Perth office. Paul and Justin join JWS from Clifford Chance where they were longstanding partners in its corporate practice.

In making the announcement, Johnson Winter & Slattery’s Managing Partner, Peter Slattery, said he was pleased with how Paul and Justin strengthen the calibre of the firm’s corporate capability in Perth.

“Justin and Paul are well recognised corporate M&A lawyers in the Perth market and their appointment is an important step in the development of our Perth office as well as deepening the range of skills and experience within our corporate group nationally.”

Paul Vinci, who led Clifford Chance’s Perth office for two years, and Justin Harris both bring significant transactional experience in public takeovers and mergers, equity capital markets transactions and private acquisitions and disposals.  They are also experienced in providing corporate regulatory and corporate governance advice.

Vinci commented "The JWS 'low leverage' business model is well suited to the complex, strategic work that we do for our clients.  It is a win-win for us and our clients – we get to continue to focus on advising clients directly (rather than managing a team of junior lawyers), while our clients get the benefits of tailored advice, a lower cost-structure and access to the depth and breadth of the talented JWS team across Australia."

Harris added “We have known, and been impressed by, the JWS team for some time.  We are excited to have become a part of it, and believe it is a platform that will suit our clients well."

Also joining JWS from Clifford Chance are special counsel Shane Stewart and senior associate Kate Naude.
