Work

For a firm of its size, Johnson Winter & Slattery has typically attracted a disproportionate share of complex, "high stakes" transactional and dispute related work.  It has developed a reputation for attracting the quality of clients and legal assignments normally reserved for much larger firms.  Expressed in the vernacular the firm has always "punched above its weight".

The nature of the work we attract is due, in large measure, to the fact that we operate with a higher number of senior lawyers than junior lawyers.  This low leverage structure ("the inverted pyramid") benefits clients, senior lawyers wanting to be fully engaged on client assignments and provides outstanding development opportunities to lawyers at the outset of their career.

By working closely with senior lawyers, our junior lawyers are given meaningful responsibilities early in their careers and the opportunity to develop strong relationships with clients. Every lawyer has an important role to play in our firm and is considered a valuable member of a dynamic team.
