Jane has over 20 years experience practising in tax, with both the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) and commercial law firms. She holds a Bachelor of Economics, Bachelor of Laws with first class Honours and University Medal and a Master of Laws specialising in taxation.

Jane was for many years a senior technical officer in the Appeals and Review area of the ATO, conducting tax litigation for the ATO and advising ATO auditors in relation to the tax audits of the top 100 public companies. Jane joined a large commercial law firm in 1993 and became a partner in the tax group of that firm in 1999. She joined Johnson Winter & Slattery as Tax Counsel in 2006.

Jane practises in all areas of income tax and capital gains tax, focussing on corporate and international tax, including corporate reorganisations, mergers, acquisitions, capital management transactions and liquidations, cross border investment, property trusts and managed funds, domestic and cross border leasing, tax effective financing, employee share and option schemes, other employee tax issues, tax audits and litigation. She has advised clients in a range of industries, including financial services, funds management, mining and resources, energy, telecommunications, infrastructure, sport, tourism and government.
