Our people : Karina Marcar Why did you join JWS? I started at JWS in November 2004. I had originally worked in a boutique tax and corporate firm, followed by working in the Sydney, London and Perth offices of a large national firm. I found my preference was for smaller offices, where you could achieve results for your clients, maintain the quality of your advice, yet work in tighter teams. I work today at JWS with many lawyers I worked with as a graduate; those kinds of working relationships are priceless. Why did you choose your specialisation? I started to focus on corporate work as a result of a great mentor I worked with from the time I was a graduate lawyer. I still work in the area because I enjoy the number of issues you need to consider and the range of other lawyers you get to work with, to pull together commercially relevant advice for your clients. What keeps you at JWS? The working relationships, the client relationships and the quality of work. I have worked on public company takeovers, capital raisings and private equity transactions, as well as acting as an adviser to my listed clients on day to day issues. I work with a range of clients, including Allco Equity Partners and Constellation Hotels Group, and have advised in connection with the Airline Partners Australia bid for Qantas. |
