JWS Wins M&A Deal of the Year

Johnson Winter & Slattery (JWS) shared the "M&A Deal of the Year Award" with various other legal and financial advisors. The honour was presented in relation to its representation of Patrick Corporation Limited in its defence of the hostile takeover offering by Toll Holdings Limited through 2006. Partner, John Kench (pictured) led the JWS team on this highly publicised and complex transaction. The matter concluded with Toll acquiring Patrick for approximately $6 billion - a price significantly higher than Toll's initial offer. Competition law issues were central to the outcome of this transaction between Australia's two largest freight companies and our firm was the principal competition law advisor to Patrick throughout the matter.
