JWS advises McGuigan on strategic acquisition
JWS Partner, Gordon RadfordNational law firm Johnson Winter & Slattery (JWS), advised McGuigan Simeon Wines Limited on its acquisition of the assets of Adelaide-hills wine producer, Nepenthe Wines, and also on a $25 million share placement into the United States to fund the acquisition.

Corporate partner Gordon Radford led the JWS team that advised McGuigan together with Kerry Morrow (Senior Associate), Kate Lyttle (Associate) and Anne Kirk (Associate). Also assisting on the transaction were Sybella Blencowe, Joycia Young, Man Loi, Eve Thomson, Michael Garry, Michael Seifried, Kerry Clark, Jenny Raymond and Joanna Priest.

English law firm, Pinsent Masons, and U.S. law firm, Dickinson Wright PLLC, both provided advice on intellectual property law issues in their jurisdictions. Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman assisted with the share placement.

Talking on the acquisition, Gordon Radford said, "this is a significant transaction for our client. The acquisition of Nepenthe gives the merged McGuigan Simeon Wines Limited a well-known brand in the premium range."
