| Changes to New South Wales Stamp Duty |

New South Wales recently changed its stamp duty laws by amending the Duties Act 1997 (NSW) (the Act) by:
> introducing a new 'landholder duty' regime in place of the former 'land rich' regime; > introducing a new general anti-avoidance rule modeled on Part IVA of the Income Tax Assessment Act 1936 (Cth) (ITAA); and > making significant changes to the mortgage duty provisions.
