John has been a competition and consumer protection adviser since the commencement of the Trade Practices Act (now Competition and Consumer Act) in late 1974.

He specialises in the regulation of complex mergers and business arrangements, and in the defence of competition law prosecutions and civil litigation.

John has acted in landmark merger matters for many leading companies including BHP Billiton, News Ltd, Boral, Goodman Fielder, Mayne, BAT, SingTel, Patrick Corporation, Santos and Unilever. He has also acted in major misuse of market power and collusion prosecutions and follow-on civil litigation. He is involved in trade practices education and compliance training.

John is consistently ranked in Australian and international legal services directories as one of Australia's leading competition lawyers, well noted for his strategic problem solving.
